The golf courses at Waterville, Killarney, Dooks, and Tralee are magnificent by anyone's standards, and all are located within easy driving distance of the Lodge. Ballybunion Golf Course is a little bit further away but with an international reputation as probably the best course in Ireland, it is well worth the extra journey.

The 12 hole golf course at Parksanilla, one of the finest hotels in Ireland, is also close at hand, being just five minutes from Sneem. The Ring of Kerry golf course takes only about 20 minutes by car.

The beaches in the area offer the visitor fine sand and rugged landscapes. Derrynane beach has to be considered as one of the finest in the area, as can be seen below. It is located near an important Natural Heritage Area, and is close to the roots of Daniel O'Connell, the Great Irish statesman.

Killarney National Park, is an hour's drive from the village of Sneem. It is renowned for its dramatic scenery of lakes and mountains. It has Ireland's only native herd of red deer and is an extensive area of outstanding natural beauty. The park is of high ecological value because of the quality, diversity, and extensiveness of many of its habitats and the wide variety of species to be found, some of which are rare.

The park was designated a UNESCO World Biosphere in 1981. Killarney is the largest town in the area and should be visited.

The Skelligs are Atlantic Ocean Islands, 8 miles off the Kerry Coast. They are famous for their fascinating history, magnificent scenery, and for the abundance of sea birds from gannets to storm petrels. It also boasts the World's finest example of early Christian Monastic architecture on a cliff-top, 200 metres (700 feet) above sea-level.

The Skellig Experience Centre is on Valencia Island and has a fascinating museum which you should visit before(weather permitting) taking a 2 hour boat trip to see the islands in all their beauty and at close quarters.

The Ring of Kerry is a fascinating part of an unspoilt region of Ireland that has brought visitors to the area for centuries.Spectacularly beautiful, it is a natural centre for outdoor activities such as cycling, walking, riding and watersports.

Apart from the fine beaches, The Ring of Kerry provides an insight into ancient Ireland - the Ogham Stones, Monasteries and a breathtaking landscape. Whilst in Sneem, we strongly recommend a trip around the Ring of Kerry.
